KILLOE GAA

Senior Club Notes 5th March 2018

Congratulations to Brìd McGoldrick who was appointed by new Gaa Chairman John Horan as National Chairperson of the health and well being Committee of the Gaa for the term 2018 to 2021 at the recent Gaa congress. No doubt this committee is in safe hands with Brìd at the helm.

Best wishes to our senior scòr instrumental group of Marie Brady, Paddy Collumb and Padraig Walsh in the Leinster final this coming Saturday in the Helix theater. We hope that things go well and we will see gold medals in Killoe on Saturday evening.

Our annual 5 and 10K rad races take place this coming Sunday commencing from the club house at 12 midday. Registration is on the morning from 10 am. €15 for runners, €10 for walkers and €5 for juveniles. As we all know it is a great course with the 5k relatively flat while the 10K has a few teasing hills. We hope the weather will have improved and we will see our usual large crowd in attendance. Refreshments served afterwards in the clubhouse.

Our Allen Cup game at the weekend was postponed due to the snow. We hope to kick off the season this weekend weather permitting. Please see fixtures and social media closer to the weekend for confirmation.

Well done to John Connell on his recent appearances on the Late Late show and ear to the ground. It is great to see we have such talents in the parish and John was certainly at home taking to Ryan Tubridy. The Irish launch of the cow book takes place this coming Thursday evening in Longford Library. Please get behind John and support his launch if possible.

Our lotto draw for a jackpot of €11,500 took place in the Olde Forge on Sunday night and the numbers drawn were 8, 13 28 and 34. There was no jackpot winner.  Our €20 winners were Liam Halpin Carrabeg, Imelda Kilmurray, Esker, May Muldoon, Ferefad, Gerry Connolly, C/O Milos and Laura Doherty, Esker. This weeks sellers prize went to Brendan Bracken junior. Next week sees the jackpot rise to €11,600 with the draw in Begleys on Sunday night next.

Finally this week we offer our deepest condolences to the O Donnell family on the untimely passing of Peter at the weekend. Peter was a former player who represented the club throughout the minor grades. May he rest in peace
