Division 5 V Abbeylara

Division 1 V Longford Slashers

Our Seniors recorded another victory in division 1 on Saturday last in extremely wet conditions in Emmet Park. Opening scores from Ciaran Donohoe and Mark Hughes were quickly negated with Longford Slashers converting a penalty for their first score of the game. A further exchange of points seen Longford Slashers lead by by 4 points at the water break. Killoe stepped up a gear on the resumption of play. Danny Mimnagh scoring a well worked goal, which he quickly followed up with a point to bring the sides level. Longford Slashers failed to convert their chances in the remainder of the half with good defending by the Hughes brothers and Evan Farrelly negating their attacking threats. Mark Hughes and Larry Moran added points to see the half time score Killoe 1-8 to 1-3. Following a Slashers point on the restart, Killoe began to pull away. Some excellent turnovers in defence followed by quick counter attacks saw Killoe score a further 5 points without reply. 3 points by Slashers after the water break were all cancelled out by Killoe scores with Euan Finnerans point on the turn on the edge of the D being the highlight. Full time score in Emmet Park; Killoe 1-19 Longford Slashers 1-08. Scorers: Danny Mimnagh 1-2, Mark Hughes 0-4 (1f), Larry Moran 0-3 (1f), Eamon Keogh 0-3, Euan Finneran, Cian Dooner 0-2 each, Ciaran Donohoe, Ronan Keogh, James Moran 0-1 each
