Senior Club Notes 7th March 2016

After the long winter break football competitions for 2016 finally kicked off at the weekend with our senior and junior reserve teams in action. Our senior reserve team travelled to Colmcille and after a titanic struggle came out on the right side of a 1-11 to 3-6 score line. Our reserve 3 team kicked off their campaign with a home fixture against St Columba’s and also emerged victorious on a score of 3-18 to 5 points. Well done to both teams.

This coming weekend our senior reserve team are at home to Mostrim on Friday evening at 8p.m.

Well done to the Longford senior team and our representatives on a fine win over Sligo at the weekend.

Our annual 5 and 10 k runs on Sunday March the 20th are rapidly approaching. Registration will take place on the morning from 10 am to 11am with the runs kicking off at 12.15p.m. Entry fees are €15 for runners, €10 for walkers and €5 for juveniles. The race is athletics Ireland approved and measured. We hope to have a large crowd in attendance and refreshments will be served in the club house following the event.

Our lotto draw for a jackpot of €3,900 took place in Begley’s bar on Sunday night and the numbers drawn were 1,8, 12 and 20. Unfortunately there was no jackpot winner. €20 winners were Roisin Lennon, Esker, Diarmuid Brady, Boher, Eileen O Toole, Patrick Gilheaney and Aidan McGoldrick, New York. This weeks sellers prize went to Frank Toher. Next week sees the jackpot rise to €4,000 with the draw in the Olde Forge on Sunday night.

Finally we offer our sympathies to the Hughes and Doherty families on their bereavements over the past week.
