KILLOE YOUNG EMMETS - KILLOE ÓG - KILLOE LADIES
KILLOE GAA

Senior Club Notes 6th April 2015

Our Senior and junior reserve teams were in action last weekend with differing results. Our junior lads faced Mostrim in Emmet Park on Friday evening in what was an entertaining game. However we came out on the wrong side of 3-10 to 1-10 scoreline.  On Saturday evening our senior reserve team travelled to Monaduff to face the home team and came away with a fine win on a score of 2-16 to 9 points. Paul O Hara and Terry McCormack chipped in with the goals. Well done to all involved.

Next weekend our senior team have their first league game of 2015 when we face Carrickedmond. The game is in Ardagh at 2pm on Sunday.
This will be a tricky opener against an improving Carrickedmond side. Our junior team are scheduled to face Abbeylara also on Sunday at 2p.m. However this game is subject to change so please see fixtures for final details.
Well done to the Longford senior team on their victory over Carlow last Sunday and their promotion to Division 3 last weekend.
On Sunday night last the Kiernan family celebrated the 20th anniversary of the opening of the Olde Forge bar, shop and filling station. The Olde Forge has long been associated with Emmet Og Gaa club right from its infancy, with many a great victory celebrated there, going right back to Michael’s own playing days. We congratulate the entire Kiernan family on reaching 20 years in business and look forward to celebrating lots of great days with Victor, Lorrell, Alecia  and the entire Kiernan family over the next 20 years.
As already advertised we are taking part in the Topaz cash for clubs promotion currently being ran by Topaz nationwide up to mid May. We are asking all supporters to purchase their petrol and diesel through topaz between now and the closing date and upon purchase simply get a card which they have in store stamped. Once the card is completed simply return it to Thomas Quinn or any club member. We need 300 completed cards to enter the competition, but if we get in they have great prizes on offer.
As you all know the Killoe Astro turf fundraising project is in full swing at the moment with the Kube event taking place on Saturday night the 18th March 2015 in the Longford Arms. This will be a fantastic facility for all parish members and while not strictly a gaa resource, I’m sure all children, teenagers and adults in the Parish will avail of the facilities once it is complete. Tickets for the event at €20 are widely available and it is hoped that the event will be widely supported. We wish Gerry Rowley and the fundraising team every success with the venture.
Due to the bank holiday weekend, Sunday nights lotto draw was held over until Monday night. Full details in next weeks notes.
Finally congratulations to Claire Kiernan and Oggie Campbell on the birth of their baby daughter last weekend, a second grandchild to occupy Frank and Delores’s time.
Also congratulations to Rosie McEntire and Mark McGoldrick on their recent engagement. Another good man gone as they say with the good men starting to get very scarce.
