Gilmore Cup Final Replay V Grattan Óg

Our Junior team lost out by 2 points after extra time in the Gilmore Cup Final replay on Friday night in Emmet Park. The two teams had been very evenly matched throughout both games but Gratton Óg looked to be the better side late in the second half with a 2 point lead in the final 5 minutes. Killoe held their nerve and never gave up. A levelling score by Oisin McManus followed by a snap shot by David Mimnagh put Killoe in front at the death and looked to have sealed the win. However, on the last attack of the game Grattan Óg scored to send the game to extra time at 0-13 to 2-7. Despite only being a point down at half time of extra time, Killoe never got going and were reduced to 13 men very late on. Full time score Killoe 0-14, Grattan Óg 2-10. Congratulations to Grattan Óg on the win. Commiserations to our Junior team & management whose season has concluded. We thank them for their effort and commitment all season and we look forward to seeing them go the next step in 2024

Leinster Club Championship V St. Lomans Mullingar

Our Senior team lost out to St. Lomans of Mullingar in the quarter final of the Leinster championship in a comprehensive 10 point defeat. Despite finding space in the St. Lomans defence in the opening minutes, the Westmeath champions were very efficient in how they played and ruthlessly punished Killoe mistakes. At half time Killoe were 11 behind with St. Lomans very much in control. Despite this, Killoe missed 3 very good goal chances which could have gave a different view to the game. Killoe got further scores on the board in the second half with Daniel Mimnagh scoring a great goal after a solo run. Unfortunately the deficit of 10 points remained throughout and Killoe finished the game with 13 men. The full time score read Killoe 1-10, St. Lomans 1-20. Best of luck to St. Lomans in the semi-final. Commiserations to our team & management who despite the loss can look back on what was a great year for the team. We thank the lads for their hard work & commitment during the season.
