Senior Championship Round 1 V Colmcille
The first round of the Senior Championship began on Friday evening in Allen Park with Killoe facing county champions Colmcille in a much anticipated encounter. Killoe had a very positive start and set the tempo early on. Killoes first goal was tapped home by Ronan Keogh after some brilliant play inside the first 10 minutes to give a 5 point advantage. Colmcille rallied well in the second quarter by kicking some great scores from distance to leave just two points between the sides at the break. The third quarter remained a cagey affair as both sides looked to land the fatal blow. After hitting 3 points without reply, Killoe finally got the chance they needed to close out the game when Colm Coyle was hauled down in the square. Mark Hughes made no mistake with the subsequent penalty and he followed it up a fisted point that left the full time score Killoe 2-8, Colmcille 0-6. Well done to the team & management on a fantastic opening win.
Championship Tickets
As per last year, entry to this year’s Championships will be via the online ticketing sales system provided by Universe. For tickets go to the Longford GAA Website (https://longfordgaa.ie/tickets-clubs/)
There are 3 types of ticket available to purchase:
- Ticket for each Round Stage game @ €10 each
- Weekend Pass costing €15 which allows access to all games on a particular weekend
- Championship Pass for €90 which admits you to all Adult Championship games from this coming weekend up to and including Sunday, 10th September 2023.
Please note tickets must be purchased in advance and no tickets are on sale at the venues. If any supporter is having issues purchasing an online ticket please do not hesitate to contact a member of the club executive for assistance.
Upcoming Fixtures
Our Senior team play Rathcline in round 2 of the Senior Championship next Sunday at 7:00pm in Michael Moran Park. Our Junior C team begin their championship campaign at home to Kenagh on Monday evening at 7:30pm.
