Senior Club Notes 30th January 2017

The registration for the Killoe’s 5 week challenge- couch to 5km, will take on Wednesday 1st of February at 7pm, in Ennybegs community center. It is a 5 week programme taking place in the Mall every  Wednesday evening with personal trainer Brendan Doyle at 6. 45pm and every Saturday at 9.30 am with parkrun.ie. The cost for the 5 weeks is €15 for walkers and €40 for joggers. This will automatically sign people up for the Killoe 5km on Sunday March 12th.There will be a talk from our local psychotherapist Victor Connell on coping skills, stress and building resilience.Dr. Gail Mc Neil, a smoking cessation officer with HSE, will give a short talk on smoking. People wishing to quit cigarettes will be referred to the service for free, if they so wish. Lastly, advice on nutrition will be given and a weekly weigh taken if people are interested. This is a programme for people from the very unfit to advanced fitness who feel they wish to improve their overall health and wellbeing. There are prizes for the people (man and woman) who lose the most weight and other prizes for people who improve their health the most over the 5 weeks.

Cardiac Screening to detect any underlying condition or cardiac abnormalities that may lead to Sudden Adult Death Syndrome  (SADS) will take place in Emmet Og GAA clubhouse on Saturday 25th of February. The fee is €65. (Free for LAYA Healthcare customers).

Registration for the coming year is now overdue, €40 for players, €25 for non players and €20 for students.

As and from this coming Sunday night the numbers in our lotto draw will rise from 30 to 36. This is aimed at increasing the overall jackpot prize as we hope for bigger intervals between jackpot wins. Every single penny raised from our lotto either goes out in prizes or is invested directly into improving club facilities. Any one with prepaid tickets who wish to change their numbers please contact any club member or Frank Toher on 087 4100221.

This weeks lotto draw for a jackpot of €5,500 took place on Sunday night in The Olde Forge and the numbers drawn were 8,110, 11 and 24. There was no jackpot winner. €20 winners were Ronan McGoldrick, John Clarke, Corlea, Packie Loughrey, Clonee, David Quinn, Ennybegs and Maree Kiernan, Kiltyreehir with   Ann Murray taking the sellers prize. Next weeks draw for a rounded up jackpot of 6,000 will take place in Begleys on Sunday night.

Finally this week we offer our deepest sympathies to the Murphy family, Corneddan on their recent bereavement.
