Senior Club Notes 27th September 2015

This coming week is one of the most important ever in the modern history of our great club when we have the chance to put back to back senior championship titles together for the first time. Standing in the way is a mighty test from Abbeylara who will have their own designs on taking the Sean Connolly cup away from us, and back to their own North Longford parish. However not only are we contesting the senior final on Sunday but our junior team are also in the county final where they will face the men from Mostrim. The junior game throws in at 2pm while the senior game throws in at 4pm. We wish both teams and management all the best and please God lady luck will shine on us. We urge all supporters to get into the park early and throw their voices behind the juniors as well as the seniors. These will be two massively difficult games for our teams but hopefully we can come away victorious.

On Saturday evening last our junior team were scheduled to play Shroid Slashers in their final league game. Sitting top of the table and unbeaten so far our lads only needed a point to claim the Division 3 title. However Shroid were unable to field and so with the points going to our lads, we were crowned Division 3 champion. Captain Aidan Brady was presented with the cup by Brìd McGoldrick on behalf of the county board. It was a great achievement to win this league as all of our most difficult games were away from home. Well done to all the team and hopefully it sets the tone for the week ahead.

Flags, bunting etc are still available to purchase for our supporters through Geraldine Halpin. Geraldine will be at Emmet Park this Wednesday and Friday evenings between 7 and 8pm or can be contacted on 086 6014013.

Well done to former Killoe star Justin Quinn who captained Garryowen to win the London intermediate championship on Sunday last.

Our lotto draw took place on Sunday night in Begleys for a jackpot of €1,700. The numbers drawn were 4, 6, 7 and 24. There was no jackpot winner. €20 winners were Gerry Rowley, Helen Keavy, C/O Sean McKenna, Michael Dunleavy, Ohill, Johnny O Hara and Patsy Fox. This weeks sellers prize went to Frank Toher. Thanks again to all who support our lotto.

Finally we offer our sympathies to the Caherly and Loughran families on their recent bereavement.
