Gilmore Cup Final
Our Junior team faced Grattan Óg in the Gilmore Cup Final on Friday evening last in Dunbeggan in what was difficult weather conditions for football. Killoe got off to a bad start with the concession of three successive points in the opening 5 minutes. Eventually Killoe leveled the game and were unlucky not to go in front when a Killian Feeney shot at goal went narrowly wide. By half time Killoe were down by 4 again with Grattan Óg taking their chances late in the half. On the resumption of play Killoe dominated the possession but weren’t getting scores on the board. Then with less than 10 minutes to go in the half a high ball into the square was palmed into the net by Seamus McCormack for a goal which restored parity once more between the sides. Grattan Óg looked to have one hand on the trophy when they scored a point late on but Killoe didn’t panic and from the resulting kick out, worked the ball to David Mimnagh who fired over another equaliser. At the full time whistle the scores read Grattan Óg 0-13, Killoe 1-10. The sides will have to meet again with a time & date for the replay to be confirmed.
