Congratulations to senior star Padraig McCormack who was rightly recognized for his fantastic performances all year when he was named in the team of the championship on Saturday night. This is two in a row for Padraig and is testimony of how solidly he performs week in week out. Well done Padraig and congratulations to all the McCormack family.

On Saturday night last  in New York City, our very own Dessie McGoldrick was inducted into the Longford GAA club, New York’s hall of fame.

Dessie was born a true Killoe man and represented our club on the playing fields at all grades from schoolboy up to senior, culminating with playing a huge part in our Leader cup final victory in 1985. However emigration called shortly afterwards and Dessie found himself a better life in New York City. However with Gaelic games in his blood he soon became involved with the Longford club in New York with whom he played for many years, only recently hanging up the boots. Dessie also held several committee roles in his new club.

Dessie remains a true Killoe supporter and has always made the trips home to share in the celebrations after our recent Connolly cup success’s. He is also a great supporter of our lotto and recently commented that he looks forward to receiving our club notes via email each Monday morning. As well as a true GAA man, Dessie has also been a great friend to any young Killoe person arriving in New York City, collecting many from JFK or providing accommodation until the visitor found their feet.

From all in Killoe Dessie, we congratulate you and your family on this great achievement and hope you enjoy the celebrations. We look forward to seeing you on home soil in the near future.

Our lotto draw for a jackpot of €10,900 took place on Sunday night in The Olde Forge and the numbers drawn were 1, 12, 15 and 26. Unfortunately there was no jackpot winner. €20 winners were Jennifer Lee, Longford, Mary Thompson, Aughaboy, Cormac O Donnell, Kelleter, Enda Prunty, Dooroc and Donna and Gerry Rowley  with this weeks sellers prize going to Ann Hughes. Next week sees the jackpot rise to €11,000 with the draw in Begleys bar on Sunday night.
