Senior Club Notes – 17th Nov 2014

With no games last week, all eyes were on our dancers who are preparing to face off in our inaugural ‘jigs N Reels’ fundraiser in the Longford Arms ballroom on Saturday night the 6th December. Some of the couples have progressed past the 1-2-3’s already while rumour has it others are getting to terms with such exotic moves as the tango and the salsa. Whatever the final choreography, a great nights entertainment is guaranteed for all in attendance. Tickets at €10 each are widely available throughout the parish at the moment or by contacting any club member. Remember the winners on the night will be chosen by votes cast by those in attendance. All money raised through this event is going to club development.

This weeks lotto draw took place in the Olde Forge with the numbers 1,3, 23 and 25 drawn. There was no jackpot winner. €20 winners were Mark Harnon, Crott, Moyne, Donal Maguire, Esker, Marie Dooner, Ennybegs, Andy Jordan, Coy’s and Mossie Burns, Newtownbond. The sellers prize went to Margraet McCormack. Next weeks draw for €4,700 takes place in Begley’s bar next Sunday night with  Bernie Bradys team on call.

In the last number of years we at Emmet Og Gaa club have embraced modern technology and particularly social media and our website. We have used it to great advantage to try and promote our club, our players, our games and our facilities. It is an excellent tool to have at our disposal for reaching out to people and portraying positive news and imagery from our club. However of late we have noticed a worrying trend of people venting their anger at certain events and decisions through social media. We wish to discourage this trend as we feel this is not an appropriate forum for criticism of any individual, group or decision.
