Last weekend was a very busy one with both our junior and senior teams in championship action. On Friday evening our juniors travelled to Moydow to face the home side in round 3 of the championship. Having already qualified for the quarter finals, a victory was very important to ensure home advantage in the next round. As expected on their home ground, Moydow were full of enthusiasm and fight and went in at half time leading by 2-4 to 4 points. However a much improved performance by our lads after half time saw us come much more into the game. Despite our best efforts we found it very hard to break down a packed Moydow defence and found ourselves a point down on the Stroke of full time. Eventually a fine move right from our back line saw Ryan Moffett with the help of a deflection find the back of the Moydow net. This was quickly followed by a David McCarthy point to seal victory. We now face Cashel in the quarter final with the game in Emmet Park this Sunday at 12 midday. evening.
On Sunday evening our senior team got their championship campaign back on the road with a good win against Ballymahon. With several positional changes our lads looked refreshed early on and held a commanding half time lead. However a slow start to the second half allowed Ballymahon back into the game, before we pushed on again late on to run out winners 4-16 to 2-9. We now meet St. Columba’s in the next round on Sunday evening next. This is a repeat of last years county final and is sure to be a much tougher test. We wish our juniors and senior all the best in the next round.
Our lotto draw took place on Sunday night in Begley’s bar and the numbers drawn were 5, 8, 16 and 21.
