KILLOE GAA

Senior Club Notes 14th December 2015

LEADER CUP FINAL. At last we brought the curtain down on what we can consider to be a very successful 2015 season when we captured the Leader Cup in a damp and cold Glennon Bros. Pearse Park on Sunday last. Owing to the recent inclement weather this game was postponed a number of times and great credit is due to the players from Emmet Og and Abbeylara who kept the momentum going to serve up an entertaining game to a rather small attendance. This was the third time this year for these Clubs to meet in major finals and similar to  the previous encounters there was very little between the sides. Killoe started this game brightly but with scores at a premium the half time score read: Emmet Og 0-4 Abbeylara 0-2. Early  in the second half the County Champions dominated proceedings to take a four point lead by the 34th minute. However Abbeylara brought it to a one point game by the 45th minute but amazingly failed to score in the final 15 minutes. Killoe  slotted over another three points to complete a historic double double having achieved a similar feat in 2014. Final score: Emmet Og 0-9 Abbeylaa 0-5. Great tribute is due to our players for their commitment and hard work  and we congratulate them on their achievements over the past two years. High praise is also due to Manager Declan Rowley, Assistant Manager Gerry Carberry and Selectors: Thomas Donohoe, John ‘Speedy’ McCormack and Sean Maguire. Well done to all.
