We had a very busy day on Sunday last with both our junior and senior teams in league action. First up were our junior team who travelled to Abbeylara at 11.30am for what is always a very tough fixture. Having played against a considerable breeze in the first half we found ourselves ahead by a point at half time, mainly thanks to a John Kiernan goal and some fine points by Matt Clarke. On the changeover Abbey threw everything at our lads, and despite some resolute defending and last gasp goal line clearances, we found our selves trailing by a point as full time approached. However a fine long range free by Seamus McCormack drew the game level before David Mimnagh sent over the winner with virtually the last play of the game to snatch an unlikely victory on a score of Emmet Og 1-10, Abbeylara 12 points.
Next up were our senior team who travelled to Ardagh at 2pm to face Carrickedmond in the league. After a comprehensive display we recorded victory on a score of 4-19 to 1-7. We had our county players back on duty and they were very much to the fore. Mark Hughes got two of the goals while the McGoldrick brothers finished the other two goals. Well done to both teams.
This week our senior team are at home to Dromard in the league on Wednesday evening at 8.30pm while on Friday our Reserve 1 team are at home to Abbeylara, also at 8.30pm. On Sunday our junior reserve team travel to Ballinalee to face Sean Connollys at 2pm. Good luck to all 3 teams.
