Senior Club Notes 13th April 2015

We had a very busy day on Sunday last with both our junior and senior teams in league action. First up were our junior team who travelled to Abbeylara at 11.30am for what is always a very tough fixture. Having played against a considerable breeze in the first half we found ourselves ahead by a point at half time, mainly thanks to a John Kiernan goal and some fine points by Matt Clarke. On the changeover Abbey threw everything at our lads, and despite some resolute defending and last gasp goal line clearances, we found our selves trailing by a point as full time approached. However a fine long range free by Seamus McCormack drew the game level before David Mimnagh sent over the winner with virtually the last play of the game to snatch an unlikely victory on a score of Emmet Og 1-10, Abbeylara 12 points.

Next up were our senior team who travelled to Ardagh at 2pm to face Carrickedmond in the league. After a comprehensive display we recorded victory on a score of 4-19 to 1-7. We had our county players back on duty and they were very much to the fore. Mark Hughes got two of the goals while the McGoldrick brothers finished the other two goals. Well done to both teams.

This week our senior team are at home to Dromard in the league on Wednesday evening at 8.30pm while on Friday our Reserve 1 team are at home to Abbeylara, also at 8.30pm. On Sunday our junior reserve team travel to Ballinalee to face Sean Connollys at 2pm. Good luck to all 3 teams.

Our Lotto draw took place on Sunday night in The Olde Forge and the numbers drawn were 14,15, 22 and 24. There was no jackpot winner. €20 winners were Kieran Corr, Bundoon, Billy Bratten, Killoe, Anna and Conor Fox, Gala, Ballinalee, John Doherty, Rhyne and Kevin McNally, Aughnacliff. Darina McGoldrick took the sellers prize. Next weeks draw for a jackpot of €3,400 will take place on Sunday night in Begley’s bar with Berney Brady’s team on call. Well done to all the winners and thanks again to all who support our lotto jackpot.

Please remember to return any completed Topaz Cash for clubs tickets to Thomas Quinn or any club member.

Congratulations to Aoife Finnerty and John O Brian, from County Cork who were married on Friday last. Congrats also to Christopher Kelly, Kilnacarrow and Denise McCloughery who were married on Saturday last. May both couples have many happy years together.

Finally we extend our sympathies to the Hennessy family, Ballinalee, the Brady Family, Drumlish, the Harte Family, Longford and the Diffley family, Longford on their bereavements last week.
