Senior Club Notes 11th May 2015

Congratulations to our schoolboy team who had a great win in the Division 1 championship final last week against a strong Ardagh team. Going into the game as underdogs having comprehensively lost earlier in the  year to Ardagh our lads trained hard over the last few months to record a fine win in the final. Well done to all players, mentors Colm Harte, David Donnelly, Gerry Rowley  and all involved.

We had  a relatively quiet weekend on the playing fields at the weekend with just our reserve junior team in action. The game was on Saturday evening in Balybrien and despite a strong first half performance by the hosts, we found ourselves only two points behind at the break on a score of 4 points to 2. However Joe Maloney grabbed a crucial goal early in the second half which turned the momentum in our favour, and we went on to record victory on  a score on 1-12 to 9 points. Well done lads.

This coming weekend our reserve senior team are at home to Granard on Friday evening at 9pm while our reserve junior team welcome St. Columba’s to Emmet Park on Sunday at 2pm. Good luck to both.

Best wishes to the Longford senior team on their tough away game to Offaly in the Leinster Championship on Sunday. Terrace tickets at €5 for the game are available from Danny Keogh 086 3165688.

Our lotto draw took place on Sunday night in Begleys bar for a jackpot of €3,600. The numbers drawn were 5,12,23 and 30. There was no jackpot winner. €20 winners were Aidan Corr, C/O Begleys, Colm O Donnell, Kelleter, Shane Spollen, Lisduff, Andrew Thompson, Esker and Jack Fitzpatrick, Clontumpher. This weeks sellers prize went to Brian Donohoe. Next weeks draw will take place on Sunday night in the Olde Forge for a jackpot of €3,700. Thanks again to all who support our lotto.

Finally we offer our condolences to the Doherty family, Soran on their recent bereavement.
