KILLOE GAA

Senior Club Notes – 10th Nov 2014

Our Leinster Club Championship campaign ended in disappointment on Sunday last when we lost out by the narrowest of margins to a dertimined and well organised Garycastle side in Cusack Park Mullingar. Killoe got off to the best possible start when slotting home a goal in the second minute. However Garycastle fought their way back to level affairs after 19 minutes. After a hard-fought first half the teams were  on level terms at the interval: Garycastle 0-07 Killoe 1-04. The second half saw more of the same with the sides level on a number of occasions The home team shaded it in the end, despite a late scare with what seemed a legitimate Killoe goal in injury time, being ruled out by Offaly Referee Fergal Smyth. Final Score: Garrycastle 1-11 Killoe 1-10. While this defeat was a major disappointment, great credit is due to all our Senior players who have given tremendous committment and effort throughout the year and with a Senior Championship and Leader Cup on the shelf and also with the Club still in the running for an Under 21 title we can be very proud of these players and their achievements in 2014. Thanks also to the Management team of Tommy McCormack, Mick McKeonJohn Bracken and Gerry Carberry for their great work so far this year.

Our Under 21 team continue their quest for honours when they take on Carrick Sarsfields in the semi final of the competition. Please check fixture list in The Longford Leader for confirmation of date and venue.
