Congratulations to our U14 team on winning the county championship with a win of Longford Slashers on a scoreline of 3-12 to 1-14. This was a fantastic game of football and we would thank Slashers in this very supporting encounter.
Well done to our minors on reaching the county final with a win (1-12 to 1-9) over Ballymahon/Forgney/Southern Gaels on Saturday. Having conceded a goal in the first minute this was a brilliant gusty display against a more physical side. The date for the final is yet set
Our U16 are likely to be playing in the championship semi final this coming weekend. At time of writing these notes the fixture has not been finalised yet.
U12’s division 1 and Division 3 are through to the Shield finals against Longford Slashers and Northern Gaels.
Next round of U8 go games indoor Blitz on Thursday 24th September at 6.30 in Newtownforbes Sport Hall.
We are intending to run a comprehensive first aid course in the coming weeks which is open to anyone who wishes to do it and free of charge. To register interest in this please contact Ann Harte directly or on abharte@aol.com
2015 sees the 40th anniversary of the founding of our great Minor club, and to mark the occasion on Saturday the 26th September we are hosting a day of fun events, challenge games incorporating a selection of our minor teams, and a presentation to the visionaries who set the club up all those years ago.
Events will kick off at Emmet Park at 11a.m. when our under 10 team face a rematch with the mighty Navan O Mahoneys side whom they recently drew with in the final of The Mullingar tournament. If you remember the teams were level half way through extra time when two Killoe players accidentally collided leaving both in hospital. Navan O Mahoneys agreed at the time to split the cup so this is a chance to grab the bragging rites.
This will be followed at 12 midday with a challenge game between our under 8 stars and their counterparts from Ardagh.
Once this is over our newly crowned Under 14 champions will take on the Cavan under 14 champions Ballymachugh.
Throughout the morning there will be a range of fun games and interesting activities ongoing to engage minds of all ages.
Refreshments will be served throughout and the shop will be open.
Once the games have concluded, circa 3pm we will be making presentations to the clubs founding members to honour their great vision back in 1975.
Finally, we will end the celebrations with our minor clubs annual fundraising draw and hooley on Saturday night in Begleys bar. Music on the night is by Graham Feeney and tickets for the draw are widely available at the moment around the Parish.
We hope there is something in the above to interest all Killoe supporters and hope for a good turn out on the day. We look forward to seeing you there.
