Minor Club Notes – 12th January 2015

We have our  minor club presentation on Friday night late in the National School which was well attended.  Our special  guests  on  the nights were the  founders of the minor club  40 years ago, Marion Lynch  representing  her  late husband  Packie our first  chairman , our first Secretary  Frankie Toher, Tom Mahon  our first  vice chairman. The minor  club’s  first  Treasurer John Reilly was absent  due  to a recent illness  but it is  good to hear  he is making a good  recovery. The  County  board  were represented   by our own Brid McGoldrick, Tom McLoughlin  and Damien Sheridan  who  outlined for  us 20/20 vision programme that County board will be launching  next week. Our  other guests were  Fr Sean Casey, Colm Harte  principal of   the School ,Jimmy Halpin representing the Senior Club, Frank Kiernan  Junior of Kiernan Structural Steel  our  main Sponsor and Victor Kiernan.

Congratulations  to Liam Hebron who won the Micheal  Kiernan memorial award. Sean Feeney  our ongoing Treasurer who won Clubperson of the year.

Our Dancers and  singers  who won   prizes   at the recent  junior Scor competition were first to  be presented  with their trophies. Thanks  to their mentors  Mairead Loughlin, Mary Walsh and Marie McCormack who  organised  the competitors this year. It is go  to see the  club  competing in  these competitions.

Our  U14’s  were presented  with the  U14 league and Feile medals.  Our  U16’s were presented with their league medals  and minors their  special League medals. Our under 10’s and U12 also won a number of blitz  competitions during the year. Thank you to  our Senior players Joe McCormack, Daniel Mimnagh  and Paddy Thompson  who  presented the  medals to  the players and  the founding members  and Fr Casey who  presented the trophies  to the team captains.

Finally thanks to Com Harte for the use of the school facilities and  Rosin Moffat  for the catering.

The  county board  are holding an information night  of their 20-20 vision plan in Pearse Park  on Wednesday  14  January at 7.30 pm.
