Minor Club Notes 27th September 2015

The club held their 40th anniversary celebration on Saturday last 26th September. We would thank Navan O ‘Mahoney’s U10 team and Ardagh u8’s for joining us in our celebrations. Our U14’s played a challenge game. After the football was over we presented our founding members Marion Lynch on behalf her late husband Packie Joe, John Reilly Frankie Toher and Tom Mahon a token of our appreciation for their foresight in founding our club. Declan Rowley gave an insight into the history of the club and Master Harte discussed the special link between our club and the national school. Our chairman thanked the prior executives for their hard work which has brought the club to where it is today. It was great to see so many of the prior executive returning especially Matt Duggan who travelled from Galway for the day. Thank you to Rosin Moffett for the food and our photographer Gerry Rowley. Finally thanks to the current players, past players their parents and guardians, managers and coaches for their time and dedication over the years in   making the Club was it is today.

Our annual club draw was held in Begley’s on Saturday night. The winners on the night were Joe Clyne , Emer Igoe, Alex Rehill and Caroline Rehill Sellers Prize also went to Alex Rehill. Thanks to Mickey, Mary Niamh and Paddy for the use of their premises and to Graham Feeney for providing the Musical entertainment on the  night.

On the playing field our U12’s division 3 team won their county shield on Friday night.

Our u16 defeated Clonguish in the Juvenile championship semi-final on Sunday on a score line of 1-12 to 8 points. The final is set for Saturday next 3rd October against Longford Slashers. Time and venue to be confirmed.

The next round of the U8 indoor Blitz  is to take place  in Edgeworthstown  Sports Hall  on  Thursday  1st October at 6.30 pm.

Next Sunday 4th October  is a big day for the Parish and club as our Senior and Junior teams contest the County Finals. Best wishes to players, teams and mentors.
