Senior Football Championship Rd 3 Fixture
We produced a third-quarter surge to all but seal our place in the Longford SFC quarter-finals, hitting 1-7 in that period to see off Dromard 2-13 to 2-6 in Monaduff.
In a cagey, error-strewn first half, it took four minutes for the scoreboard to move—when it did, it was courtesy of a Dromard goal. William McEntire’s shot was spilled onto the post by our keeper Michael Hughes, with Conor McGauran’s rebound cleared off the line before Ronan Corcoran netted for Dromard.
Our response was immediate—Ryan Moffett caused havoc before setting up Paddy Kiernan for our first goal. Points from Niall Farrelly and Paddy Moran (free) saw us lead 1-4 to 1-3 at the break, after Dromard missed a sitter from close range.
Two minutes into the second half, Paddy Moran struck our second goal, following up after his first effort was stopped on the line. Dromard lost their keeper to a head injury soon after, and we took full control. Points from James Moran, Paddy Moran, and a pair of two-pointers from Paddy Kiernan pushed us 2-11 to 1-3 clear by the 44th minute.
Dromard hit a late goal through Francis McGee, but we closed out a convincing 2-13 to 2-6 win—our second in the group stages.
Scorers: Killoe: Paddy Moran 1-5 2f, Paddy Kiernan 1-4 (2*2pt), James Moran 0-2, Larry Moran 0-2 (2pt).
The next game for our senior team is this Saturday against Mostrim at 7pm in Higginstown, Granard.
