Senior Football Championship Rd 1
We showed grit and depth to edge out St. Mary’s Granard in the opening Longford SFC opener, winning 1-17 to 1-15 at the final whistle. James Moran nudged us back in front with a two-point free before Darren Gallagher responded in injury time with a 45 to leave the sides level at 1-9 apiece at half time.
We came close to a great second-half start, but Eamon Keogh’s early shot came back off the post. Granard capitalised through Micheál Hynes to go 1-10 to 1-9 ahead. Paddy Moran scored a tremendous free before Hynes added the first two-pointer from play, giving Granard a 1-13 to 1-11 lead at the three-quarter mark.
Paddy Moran slotted a 47th-minute free, before Micheál Hughes made a crucial save to deny Granard a goal. Sub Ryan Keogh narrowed the gap, and James Moran fired us ahead again with another two-point free. Gallagher equalised once more with a fine 45, but we finished stronger. Two late frees from Paddy Moran made it 1-16 to 1-14. Jamie Brady Hynes pulled one back, but Ronan Keogh sealed it with a fisted point in injury time.
Final Score: Killoe 1-17, Granard 1-15
Killoe Scorers: Paddy Moran 1-8 (7f), James Moran 0-4 (2x2pf), Ciaran Donohoe, Eamon Keogh, Gavin Farrelly, Ryan Keogh, Ronan Keogh 0-1 each.
