Despite missing many chances, the title holders Killoe were still too strong for Mostrim in the Senior Football Championship Round 3 fixture at Keenan Park in Ardagh on Friday evening.

On their comfortable march into the quarter-finals, understrength Emmet Óg had four points to spare at the final whistle but should have won by a wider margin after squandering no less than four goal chances in the first half.

A goal from Darragh Doherty kept Edgeworthstown in contention and while they only trailed by 0-7 to 1-1 at the break, scores were very scarce in the second half of this very poor game as Luke Dempsey’s side did enough to register a third consecutive victory in the group stage of the Connolly Cup.

Killoe Team: Micheal Hughes; Gavin Hughes, Niall Farrelly, Eamon Igoe; Shane Clarke, Ronan Keogh, Gavin Farrelly; Paddy Kiernan (0-2), Daniel Mimnagh (0-1, ‘45); Shane McManus (0-1), Denis McGoldrick (0-2), Davin Donnelly; Paddy Moran (0-1), Ronan McGoldrick (0-1), Mark Hughes (0-1, free).
